Rifeng® E-Li is In-mold Foaming Molding
In this process, polymethacrylimide (PMI) foam copolymer sheet was crushed for particles, and through pre-foaming to get desired density, then these particles were put into a closed mold for heating, the foaming will start again, these particles will be constantly expanding, due to the mold cavity constraint, these particles will constantly to deform eventually fill the entire mold cavity, during the cooling phase, the polymer will turned stable, then can open the tooling and take out the shaped foam core as the mold cavity.
Metallic inserts with high temperature resistance can also be integrated during foaming. Rifeng® E-Li core can withstand high process temperatures and pressures makes it ideal for fast production processes like HPRTM and wet pressing.
Rifeng® E-Li is suitable for large production volumes of 1,000 to 30,000 or more complex 3D-foam core parts per year. In the automotive industry, structural parts such as the car body, chassis or add-on parts can be built with lightweight cores.
Density adjustable to your needs
Depending on the mechanical properties required by your production or life service conditions, PMI foam cores density can be customized during the foaming process to a choice of densities between 75 kg/m³ and 200 kg/m³, or customized to your specific needs.
